Message from the Head of the Department

I would like to welcome you to the Department of Languages & Translation at Northern Border University. Learning a second or third major language brings with it many advantages, both in terms of career enhancement and in terms of personal growth. We offer B.A in English language. In addition, courses in French are available. Founded in 2001, the Department of Languages & Translation is a community of scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service to local community. Through innovative pedagogies, the Department seeks to bring to its students outstanding, individualized educational experience. We prepare students to acquire proficiency in English and enhance their effective communication, creativity, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, as well as their understanding of their own Arabic language. We are dedicated to creating an atmosphere of intellectual exploration in order to develop students' research interests and abilities. Program Learning Outcomes​

Knowledge PLOs

K1: Demonstrate knowledge of the grammatical, syntactic, semantic, phonological, pragmatic, as well as the literary aspects of English.

K2: Demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of the core areas of major theories and approaches pertinent to various areas of the program including translation. 

Skills PLOs

S1: Evaluate information and evidence with clarity, produce well-formed structures, paragraphs and texts, and use evidence from a range of sources; solve problems using a variety of methods including critical thinking skills.

S2: Analyze and/or translate various types of texts using a range of information technology and other sources, and articulate ideas, views and insights pertaining to English language.

S3: Apply different methods of inquiry, investigation and research for a defined assignment/project.

Competences PLOs

C1: Display interpersonal skills, knowledge, leadership role, confidence, and show capability to engage effectively with peers and other groups.
