Vice Deans Statement:

The Vice Deanship for Development and Community Partnership at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Northern Border University, welcomes you to its webpage.

The Vice Deanship strives to fulfill its mission and vision through strategic plans and development projects that align with the University’s vision and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. It seeks to achieve optimal investment in human resources and strengthen professional and ethical values through the advancement of educational and research quality standards, under the wise leadership that continues to support innovation and excellence in education.

Operating within an integrated framework with other vice deanships of the College, the Vice Deanship aims for excellence, innovation, and effective participation to advance the educational process continuously and achieve the highest levels of quality and creative distinction.

It works to ensure the quality of the College's educational outcomes by continuously developing programs and achieving academic accreditation.
 

The Vice Deanship has also succeeded in establishing new postgraduate programs, with the scientific departments of the College embodying authenticity while keeping pace with the Kingdom’s educational development goals.

It encourages faculty members to engage in scientific research, translation, authorship, and participation in international academic activities in line with the University’s strategies for promoting scientific research and cultural exchange.

In the field of community service, the Vice Deanship represented by the College's Development and Community Partnership Unit collaborates with various academic departments to implement community oriented initiatives, lectures, and awareness programs that celebrate national and international occasions.

Vice Deanship's Tasks:
  1. Implement the University’s policies within the College in scientific research, innovation, postgraduate studies, volunteering, and community partnership, ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic goals.

  2. Develop faculty members’ and students’ research capabilities in coordination with the Deanship of Scientific Research and relevant entities.

  3. Prepare and execute research and innovation plans consistent with the University’s strategic direction.

  4. Establish endowed research chairs and attract financial support.

  5. Promote cooperation between scientific departments internally and externally.

  6. Encourage faculty to participate in research, translation, and authorship, and in editorial and peer-review committees.

  7. Measure and enhance research and innovation performance according to local and international standards.

  8. Supervise the establishment and development of postgraduate programs aligned with labor market needs.

  9. Propose and implement theoretical frameworks for innovation and community partnership with relevant parties

  10. Prepare periodic progress reports and submit continuous improvement recommendations.

  11. Follow up on requests to reactivate scientific councils and ensure continuous development and awareness.

  12. Prepare the annual report for the Vice Deanship and submit it at the end of each academic year.

  13. Develop initiatives to enhance scientific research fields.

  14. Supervise strategic initiatives related to the College.

  15. Prepare periodic reports on training and development programs.

  16. Supervise laboratory and research center operations with relevant entities.

  17.  Coordinate with relevant bodies to ensure balanced course and load distribution.

  18. Oversee postgraduate theses and reports submitted to the College Council.

  19. Conclude contracts to attract and localize qualified academic staff within the College.

Post Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Unit

This unit is responsible for graduate studies programs in coordination with the academic departments at the college. It encourages admission to graduate programs and works to develop faculty members capabilities and specialized research skills to enhance scientific and research performance.

Units Vision :

Leadership, Creativity, innovation in Graduate studies and Scientific Research.

Units Mission:

Build a system for graduate studies and scientific research, building creativity and innovation, strengthening the university's scientific and technical capabilities, ensuring optimal use of available resources, investing on opportunities, and providing a supportive scientific environment for quality in research.

Units Responsibilities:

1.    Implement and monitor the college’s graduate studies and scientific research policy in line with approved academic standards.
    2.    Develop and review admission requirements for graduate programs according to best practices and modern developments.
    3.    Manage academic and administrative operations related to graduate studies, including exams and academic committees.
    4.    Coordinate with academic departments and relevant units to ensure integrated services for students.
    5.    Prepare an updated guide for graduate studies programs covering regulations, procedures, services, and available resources.
    6.    Provide academic and administrative guidance to graduate students and explain academic documents and procedures.
    7.    Receive and process academic department decisions regarding graduate student requests and forward them to the relevant committees.
    8.    Supervise the progress of enrolled students in graduate programs.
    9.    Update the college’s website with all materials related to graduate studies and scientific research.
    10.    Organize seminars, workshops, and scientific events to promote research activity and development.
    11.    Build a complete database of applied research and graduation projects.
    12.    Encourage student involvement in scientific research and prepare them for the research market.
    13.    Support faculty members and students in publishing within accredited journals to strengthen the university’s research standing.
    14.    Assist faculty in preparing high-quality research proposals to secure funding.
    15.    Support writing, translation, and attendance at specialized scientific conferences.
    16.    Support distinguished research projects that contribute to improving graduate programs.
    17.    Organize specialized courses and workshops to enhance the scientific and research skills of faculty and students.
    18.    Follow up on recommendations to improve the quality of graduate programs and associated research fields.
    19.    Coordinate with research centers and related departments to elevate the academic and research level.
    20.    Supervise the progress of theses and dissertations and ensure compliance with scientific research standards.

Volunteering and Community Partnerships Unit

The unit is responsible for promoting a culture of volunteerism and enhancing awareness of social responsibility among university staff and students. It coordinates with academic departments and internal administrative units to organize volunteer and community activities. It also provides consultations to external entities within the framework of community partnership after obtaining official approvals. The unit prepares students, faculty, and staff to engage in volunteer work and directs volunteer initiatives to serve the community.

Quality and Academic Accreditation Unit

The unit is responsible for developing the college's academic accreditation plan and supporting all departments in meeting the requirements of academic and institutional accreditation in line with the university's vision and mission.

Excellence in applying quality and academic accreditation standards, and achieving academic accreditations that support knowledge building and development.

Unit Mission:

Continuous improvement of the college’s performance through an effective quality management system and academic accreditation processes.

Unit Responsibilities:

    1.    Coordinate with academic departments and related committees to meet the requirements of program and institutional quality.
    2.    Promote a culture of quality and academic accreditation among faculty, students, and staff.
    3.    Follow up on implementing plans that ensure compliance with quality and accreditation standards.
    4.    Apply academic policies and procedures related to quality across all college programs.
    5.    Prepare strategic plans that support academic performance, program quality, and administrative processes.

Training and Development Unit

The unit is responsible for enhancing professional and academic performance for members of the college, contributing to the college’s mission through meeting training needs, preparing training programs and annual plans, supervising implementation, and coordinating with relevant entities at the university.

Leadership and excellence in delivering training programs to various segments inside and outside the college, aligned with the vision of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Unit Mission:

Delivering distinguished training programs for targeted groups within the college to raise academic and administrative performance and meet labor-market requirements.

Unit Functions:

1.    Identify training needs for faculty and staff through surveys, feedback, performance reports, and market requirements.
    2.    Prepare an annual plan to develop academic and administrative skills for faculty and staff according to college needs and university directions.
    3.    Recommend training programs that match labor-market requirements and align program objectives with college goals.
    4.    Implement and coordinate workshops to enhance academic and administrative performance and support excellence.
    5.    Design and implement training programs that raise academic and administrative performance based on international standards.
    6.    Prepare statistics and reports on training hours for participants to track progress and achievement.
